My husband Jake and I have felt God drawing our hearts to Republic, before we even met.
I knew Dave as he worked on his fundraising process and was always thrilled to hear about the work God was doing in such a neat place.
However, I was on my way to Bible college in Portland, so I couldn't go at that time. I completed a year at college, came home and met a cute guy named Jake.
We hit it off and started dating. Republic was a shared passion. Our church was sending a group of youth to Republic and Jake was going with them. I was headed of to be a camp counsler at Royal Ridges Retreat, a Christian horse camp. I wanted to go on the church trip, but didn't know if I would be back in time.
The church group left two days after I go home. Jake and I accompanied them, getting our first taste of life in Republic.
Swinging in the park after a long day, Jake turned to me "What do you say? In five years, we get married, move out here and work for Dave?"
I stared in stunned silence and shook my head - "No more like ten years!"
Now, less than two years later we are in the process of raising support to come live in Republic!
We can't wait to be a part of the community and share to love of Christ with the youth around us!
