It was half time during a Monday Night Football game last fall. About a dozen teen guys were hanging out with me to watch the game. I decided we needed to talk deeper about life and especially about the Lord. The guys jumped right in.
A kid named Jamie was there for the first time and decided he would pipe into the conversation by proclaiming his atheism, which I truly appreciated. I engaged in more conversation with him that evening and I felt really good about our time together.
A few weeks later he comes back to Monday Night Football at YD and says "Well, I'm not an atheist any more. There's definitely some sort of God or higher beings out there." I was pleased with the progress he had made and we had some more deep discussion on the issue.
Another few weeks had gone by and Jamie came back to the YD and says "I'm pretty sure there is one God out there and that he is the reason why we are all here. But, I'm not so sure about this Jesus guy."
About a month later Jamie calls me and asks me to go to lunch with him. (Teenage guys never do that.) So, of course I went. We were sitting eating lunch when he announces to me "I believe Jesus is God, He died for my sins and I want to follow Him." (!!!)
Two weeks later he asks if he can come to church with me! He came and will continue.
I never once pushed the gospel towards Jamie. He was simply drawn by the Holy Spirit. I can't help imagining how amazing it would be if every kid was like Jamie.
Please pray for more like him.
