Why YD?

Page Photo Over a decade ago the Lord used Youth Dynamics to introduce me to an adult who would have a profound impact on my life. When I was a freshman in high school, a man named Mike Unruh became a friend and mentor. He was on staff with YD, & for the next several years he poured his heart and soul into students just like me. As I navigated the uncertainties of adolescents, his authentic friendship & love for the Lord inspired me; he helped me to realize that Christianity was relevant (even to a teenage guy). The Lord used Mike to show me the importance of relationships, compassion, and reaching out to others. He helped me understand that following Jesus was about experiencing the type of life that God intended all along. To this day, Mike remains a trusted friend and a voice of wisdom. His willingness to pursue me has been one of the reasons I work in youth ministry today.

A lot of things have changed since you and I graced the halls and classrooms of our local schools. Things like cutting, methamphetamines, eating disorders, and pre teen sexuality, are hard to understand. Despite the years of change, one thing remains constant. Adolescents need positive influences and healthy relationships with adults who care. Please continue to pray that the Lord will bless our hard work & our partnership with the churches in town!
