"Why YD Adventures?
My life gets so loud that I forget how to be quiet. It's work to hang on to what is eternal when I'm surrounded by oppurtunities to live for what is temporary and superficial. The majority of life is lived out in the 'valley', but we often need the height of the 'mountaintop' for clarity. For me this mountaintop is a place of retreat where I can strip away all distractions, and back away from meaningless activity enough to see what I'm really living for. It is the place where I discover the truth about myself and others in the light of our Creator. I am at YD Adventures because I believe God uses the purposeful tool of adventure ministry to provide others the opportunity for a 'mountaintop' viewpoint on their life; to bring them out into a quiet space away from their daily loudness and give them a chance to hear what their Creator is saying to them: "behold I make all things new... I have a future and a hope for you... and I love you more than you can ever know".

Upon completing an internship with YD Adventures in the spring/summer of 1999, Jon finished his outdoor recreation degree at Western Washington University and began work full time with YD in June of 2000. Beginning in 2001 Jon coordinated the rafting program which focused on everything water related; from a single day raft trip to a multi-day kayak trip, and was responsible for overseeing and developing the rafting staff. He has recently begun to shift his focus to working more within our expeditions programs which involve extended rafting, kayaking, backpacking, and winter camping trips.

Erin, his beautiful wife (married 1996), Lien, his very active son (born 2003), and Bohdan (born 2007) complete the Hagedorn family. Jon enjoys time with his two boys, fly-fishing, and the irreplaceable game of "pass the pigs". Erin enjoys gardening and reading. Lien enjoys bath time and hitting things with sticks. Bohdan enjoys cutting his teeth on mom and dads knuckles.
