Jerry Nesseth, Operations Manager
Training
Even though I did not reach my goal to be on staff by June 1st, it is still my intent to be involved in the ministry this Summer. Toward this effort I have begun training with the YD staff.
I am not able to attend all of the training, as I must balance my time between support raising and training. I have focused my time spent training on areas where I have the least experience. Evangelism training was an excellent opportunity to learn about reaching out to today's teen culture in a meaningful way.
Other exciting areas where I have received training include Rock Climbing, Rappelling and Challenge Course facilitation. This training recently took place at YD's Stonewater Ranch retreat facilities near Leavenworth, WA. After visiting Stonewater Ranch, I can share with you that it is a beautiful place and I know God will use it in powerful ways for many years to come.
As for rafting, I have a great deal of experience in rafting with oars and a frame rather than with paddlers. All of the single-day raft events, with YD, utilize paddle boats. My plan this Summer is to be certified to operate the gear boat for extended, multi-day trips. I will pick up the paddle experience along the way.
With this training complete, I will be ready to raise up my remaining support needs.
