A Life Changed in Skagit Valley!

Charlie*, a Skagit Valley teenager, recently come to drop-in our new Monday afternoon drop-in center at the Log Cabin in Burlington. His aunt made him come, and he was pretty determined not to have a good time. The day that Charlie came, he ended up taking to one of our staff Kevin* right away. They played pool and talked most of the time. When Charlie’s aunt came to pick him up she described a bit of his home life to me. It was obvious to me that Charlie needed to be here, if anything to be around a healthy community.


A few weeks later, an opportunity came up for Charlie to go to the Harvest Crusade, an evangelistic conference in Seattle with Kevin and a few other students. Charlie accepted the invitation. He had a great time and loved the bands. That night, as Greg Laurie presented the gospel to well over a thousand people, Charlie gave his life to Jesus! He hasn’t been the same since; he is hungry to learn more about his new-found faith and likes coming to the drop-in center on Mondays.


Since kicking off our new Monday night drop-in center in Skagit Valley, WA, every week is a new adventure. We play pool, video games, eat junk food and laugh a lot.  A new student here, a great conversation there.  It’s all about creating space to hang out, and out of that space, building relationships. Our heart is to create a community, a place were students know that they are loved no matter if they show up or not, where it’s safe to talk about their home lives, what they believe, and a place where they can discover the crucified and risen Christ.


Please pray for Charlie as he grows in his faith. Pray for the other students that come to the cabin for drop-in as well.
