Board Of Directors

Youth Dynamics is governed by a board of Directors. We are so blessed to have individuals whose hearts are to see Northwest youth brought to a personal relationship with Christ. Below is a list of board members and their occupation.

  • Photo Chair - Penny Sundblad
Penny is a Management Specialist with the U. S. Forest Service and lives in Sedro Woolley, Washington. She was introduced to Youth Dynamics in 2006 through associations with several YD board members. She invests her time with Youth Dynamics because, "Today’s young people are often starved for quality relationships and a focus in life that’s really worth pursuing. YD is the best ministry I’ve seen at meeting these critical needs through relationship building, introducing God in relevant ways, and providing fertile ground for long-term spiritual growth."

  • Photo Vice Chair - Barb Strauss
Barb and her husband Lynn own Strauss Jewelers in downtown Mount Vernon, Washington, where they have lived for 21 years. Working with youth has always been a passion of Barb’s, teaching Sunday School and being a Junior High and Senior High youth group leader. She and Lynn first became involved in Youth Dynamics about 15 years ago when they were invited to a fundraising dinner. She served on the steering committee for Burlington YD before coming onto the Board in 2003. She says that what she values most about YD is, “How the staff of YD work on building relationships first and take opportunities to share the Gospel any way they can. They have great opportunities to impact this generation for Christ and I want to help them do that.”

  • Photo Board Member - Dan Currier
Dan and his wife live in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island, where they own and operate Garden Isle Guest Cottages and Vacation home and Garden Isle Montessori School. They became involved with YD in 1989 when their children were teenagers and helped bring YD to Coupeville. Dan has served on the Board since that time. Dan serves with Youth Dynamics because, "Our society is filled with lost young people and I feel it is vitally important to reach them for Christ. What I value most about YD is that they send out Godly men and women into small rural towns to reach these young people for Christ and to provide a place where they can go to hear the gospel. I am involved with YD because of this mission."

  • Photo Board Member - Katie Jungquist
Katie is the treasurer for Skagit County and lives in Mount Vernon, Washington. She first became involved with Youth Dynamics when her high school daughter began attending a local outreach with a friend in the late 90’s. She has been serving on YD’s Board since 2005. She values YD’s work with teens because, “Our youth are such a vital part of our community. We need to invest our lives with teens to show and teach them how to have a relationship with God in all we do.”

  • Photo Board Member - Dave Needy
Dave is the Superior Court Judge for Skagit County. He lives in Mount Vernon, Washington. He joined YD’s Board in 1989. He has continued to invest in Youth Dynamics for so many years because he believes in YD’s work with teens: “In a world with so many negative influences and destructive results for young people, I’m very pleased to be part of a ministry that provides great role models and eternally lasting positive outcomes.”

  • Photo Board Member - Paul Selsor
Paul is a Senior IT Manager for Microsoft and lives in Woodinville, WA. He has a rich history of youth ministry, having gotten involved with YD in 1995 as a volunteer staff in rock climbing with YD Adventures and being actively involved in youth ministry for thirteen years prior. He met his wife through his volunteer work with YD, and they continue to volunteer their time on trips. Paul has been serving on YD’s Board since 2005 because he’s “all for relational ministry.” He says, “Some ministries plant many seeds but they soon die out in bad soil. YD cultivates the soil, nurtures the seed and gets the youth plugged into local churches so students can continue to grow. Also, as a volunteer, I really appreciate how YD treats and respects its volunteers. Without them, there would be no ministry.”

  • Photo Secretary - Allen Grenz
Allen owns and operates Oasys, Inc., an Imaging Technology Company in the Skagit Valley. He has been serving with YD as a community supporter and volunteer since 1999 and began serving on the Board in 2006. He first became involved with YD as a high school student, attending "Rendezvous," trips to Mt. Baker, and monday night meetings. Allen serves with YD because, "YD is reaching the youth in our area and maintaining a Christian mission and message. Many organizations target youth, but YD really makes an impact on their spiritual lives."

  • Photo Board Member - Brett Johnson
Brett is a local Real Estate agent with Windermere Mount Vernon and lives with his wife in Big Lake, WA. He is also a high school basketball coach. He became involved in YD in 2006, when he began serving on the Board. Brett enjoys serving with YD because, "Having been a high school basketball coach for the last 5 years, I truly understand the importance for teens to be involved in quality activities centered around God. YD has done a tremendous job of giving kids an outlet, and it is really easy for me to support this ministry."

  • Photo Board Member - Brent Lyons
Brent is a financial advisor for Smith Barney and lives in Mount Vernon, Washington. He came onto the Board in 2003. He chooses to invest his time in serving on YD’s Board of Directors because, “YD is committed to doing youth outreach the right way!” He says, “YD understands the impact of relational evangelism, nurturing, and funneling teens into the church. YD also does a high-quality job with well-trained staff utilizing the outdoor adventure opportunities that will have a lifetime impact with those kids.”
